Nexium 24HR (esomeprazole) is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other conditions caused by stomach acid. Nexium 24HR can also be used to treat certain types of stomach ulcers caused by the release of stomach acid from the stomach. Nexium 24HR is a short-acting tablet that releases esomeprazole into the stomach twice daily (24 hours) and is designed to provide relief from symptoms associated with GERD and ulcers.
Directions
Take one Nexium 24HR delayed release tablet (20 mg) once daily. Do not take more than once daily in a 24-hour period. Nexium 24HR is for adults only. Do not use for more than 3 consecutive days unless directed by a doctor. Taking Nexium 24HR with food may delay its absorption. If symptoms persist or worsen, see a doctor or pharmacist.
